Good keywords.
I am confident that a new “exception” to the rules of the competition will be this:
The only premium tools you would otherwise buy you could use would be tools provided to ALL participants of the challenge (like premium keyword tools for example) for free.
I did use a premium keyword tools to pull this list (attached) to give people a place to start. its a text list with over 50,000 key words or key phrases that meet the following criteria:
Over 5000 searches a month in Overture (YPN)
* A thought about only having one engines results, its ok. When you look at keywords, its a “relative strength” your looking for. so its one key phrase against another, if one is stronger then another (barring engine based anomalies) it SHOULD carry through as a good representation of the value of the keyword.
An engine based anomaly might be “The Dog grooming search engine” saying German shepherds were the center of the universe. tounge in cheek, but you can see the point.
3 ads or more in Google
* Establishes that there are people willing to pay money for the click on that keyword.
Less then 5000 “phrase match” responses in google
*This means that someone writing articles, doing pr, and even basic seo has a shot at getting on the front page of Google’s results.
List of good keywords to start with.
The list is a little raw, only the keywords, some of the words have pulled ahead a little since the list was pulled. (I got it from a static list of 10,000,000 keywords from the Dowser) and there are a lot of misspellings , movie star names etc. But its a really good place to start.
Please let me know what ideas you come up with on how to use the list, so we can help others with it as well.
